Srinagar: : Five years after its establishment, the J&K Waqf Board run Bibi Halima Nursing and Medical Technology College has still not been recognized by Punjab Nursing Registration Council.
The College has already produced two batches of students whose degrees are not recognized by any recruitment agency and universities offering higher studies.
Sources said, Waqf Board applied for the College registration with Punjab Nursing Registration Council (PNRC) in 2005 as the State doesn’t have any registration authority. “Board submitted a draft of Rs 2 lakh, but the Council has failed to grant the recognition till date,” they said adding despite numerous reminders, the Council officials didn’t respond.
Sources said the matter was even brought into the notice of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, and Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad.
